The most common question after “what does it cost” is “what size do I need?” This guide helps you work it out before you ask for a quote.
Common sizes
German hangers are built from standard bays, so they come in many widths and lengths. Typical widths run from about 10 metres up to 30 metres or more, and the length can be extended in steps. How many people fit?
Capacity depends on how guests are arranged, not only on the floor area. These are planning figures, using roughly the floor area per person that organisers commonly allow. Your stage, buffet and aisles will reduce the usable space.

A 20 x 30 m hanger has about 6,000 sq ft of floor. After setting aside space for a stage, buffet and aisles, a banquet layout will seat noticeably fewer people than the raw area suggests. Share your guest count and layout and we will size it for you rather than rely on a rule of thumb.
Is a clear span possible?
Yes. A German hanger is designed as a clear-span structure, so there are no centre poles inside. Very wide spans need stronger trusses and more anchoring, which affects cost and setup time.
What ground can it be set up on?
- Grass or soil: common for lawn weddings. Anchoring uses pegs or ground plates.
- Concrete or paved ground: often anchored with weights or fixings suited to the surface.
- Terrace or rooftop: possible only if the surface and structure can take the load. Check with the building owner first.
- Uneven ground: needs levelling or packing, which adds time.

Flooring options

- Bare ground or plain cover: only for dry, short or low-budget events.
How long does installation take?
Small units can go up in hours. Large hangers with flooring, AC and decor need more time, and often a day or more. Plan the setup before your event day, not on it. Allow time after the event for dismantling and clearing the site. Ask for a schedule that lists setup, decoration handover and dismantling.
