Guests judge an event by comfort. In a large tent that mostly means heat, airflow and, in the monsoon, noise. Here is what to expect and how to plan.
How hot does it get without AC?
A closed tent with a white PVC roof can warm up in hot weather, especially in the afternoon, and more so when it is full of people and lights. How hot it gets depends on the season, the size, how many sides are open and how many guests are inside. For summer events, or any daytime event with a closed tent, plan for cooling.
Ventilation options
- Open one or more side walls to let air through, if weather and the venue allow.
- Raise the wall bottoms or fit mesh panels where suitable.
- Use industrial fans or coolers for open or partly open halls.
- Hold the event in the evening, when it is cooler.
- Use AC for a fully closed hall, as described in our AC German hanger rental page.
AC works best when the hall is sealed, so you cannot combine open walls and AC. Tell us which you prefer and we will suggest a plan.
Does rain make noise on the roof?
Yes. Rain on a tent roof is audible, and in heavy rain it can be loud enough to affect speeches, live music and announcements. How loud depends on the roof material, the rain and the size of the tent. For events with speeches or live performance in the monsoon, plan for:
- A stronger sound system with speakers placed close to the audience.
- Lapel or headset microphones for speakers.
- A fallback plan if the rain gets very heavy.
A lined or draped ceiling can soften noise a little, but do not count on it to fix a heavy downpour.
Humidity and condensation
In humid or rainy weather, closed tents can feel sticky. Good airflow, fans and, where possible, AC help keep guests comfortable. See our waterproof event hangar solutions.
